Furman's Stefanie Kenoyer captured Southern Conference Women's Golfer of the Month accolades after becoming just the second freshman in league history to claim SoCon Championship individual medalist honors, it was announced on Friday.
Kenoyer carded rounds of 70-78-70 to finish at two-over-par and claim a four-stroke victory at the SoCon Championship at the Links at Stono Ferry in Hollywood, S.C., on April 22. The Lighthouse Point, Fla., native helped give Furman its 12th SoCon team championship and the Paladins' 16th straight bid to the NCAA Regionals.
Earlier in the month, Kenoyer placed 16th at the Canes & Cardinal Classic in Florida while guiding Furman to a tie for second place. She recorded a 73.3 stroke average over six rounds for the month of April.
Furman opens play in the NCAA East Regional at the University of Georgia Golf Course on May 8, in Athens, Ga. The Paladins must place in the top eight of the 21-team field to secure their 16th bid to the NCAA Championship.
