Greenville, S.C. -- Furman's Blair Lamb, Stefanie Kenoyer and Jaclyn Hilea were named to the All-Southern Conference women's golf squad and head coach Jen Hanna was named the league's coach-of-the-year, it was announced Tuesday evening.
Hanna's Paladins claimed the SoCon Championship on Tuesday at the Links At Stono Ferry in Hollywood, S.C., shooting a final round 303 to clinch the program's 16th consecutive bid to the NCAA Regionals.
Kenoyer, a freshman from Lighthouse Point, Fla., completed the 54-hole tournament at two-over-par to become just the second freshman in the 15-year history of the SoCon Women's Golf Championship to claim individual medalist honors. She rallied from four strokes back in the final round on the strength of three birdies over the final five holes to win by four strokes. Kenoyer has posted a 74.81 stroke average in 27 rounds this season while notching three top 10 finishes during a Paladin schedule that ranks 20th nationally.
Lamb, a native of Flat Rock, N.C., and 2007 SoCon Championship individual medalist, has led the Paladins with a 74.62 stroke average and registered four top 10 finishes to capture her third All-SoCon citation. The junior grabbed a share of fifth at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate and Canes & Cardinal Classic along with seventh place finishes at the Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate and SoCon Championship.
Hilea recorded a 10th place finish at the prestigious Bryan National Collegiate and fifth place finish at the SoCon Championship to join fellow freshman Kenoyer on the All-SoCon squad. The Kaneohe, Hawai'i, native posted a 76.6 stroke average and scored a three-over-par 75 or better in seven of her last 10 rounds.
The NCAA's three 21-team regionals will take place May 8-10, with the top eight teams and top three remaining individuals advancing to the NCAA Championship May 20-23, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Pairings for the regionals will be announced on April 28.
Furman has never missed the Division I women's golf postseason since the regional format began in 1993.
